    Tanzania Plains Game -- Gazelle??

Scott - you just listed my ideal Tanzanian safari. Agree with you on Buffalo as well. All great information, except, now I want to go to Tanzania!

Last Chance For CITES Brown Bear Hunt!

I hunted in November. It was very good. I took a nice Chamois as well. In 3.5 days of hunting I personally saw 13 bears. We did a traditional driven hunt, and it was very interesting and fun. Think deer drive only with bears (and every other critter in Romania). It close encounter, active...

Last Chance For CITES Brown Bear Hunt!

I hunted bears with Marius last fall. You definitely want to get in on this hunt. There are a lot of bears in Romania. You see a lot, its very exciting and different than anything else in bear hunting. The food and accommodations are great, and unlike Alaska (which I love), Romania is also...

Those with high value firearms, do you bring them to Africa to hunt with?

The rifle on the left is a working class Merkel, leaning up against the same tree as a custom made Perugini and Visini. You can see the P&V again leaning up against the elephant, sitting next to the bolt action Kimber (I think it's a Kimber anyway). The P&V cost more than my first house (by...

    Your 2025 Hunt Plans?

Well, for the first time in a long time that I do not have any African or European hunts planned. Going to do some fishing this year. Christmas Island in Kiribati in April from some bonefish and maybe (we'll try) for GTs on the fly. Iceland in late June for the char and brown trout fishing...

    Your 2025 Hunt Plans?

I really need to make time to get to that Kariba tournament. It seems like so much fun.

    Hunting large European Wild Boar

I’m actually in Romania right now, just finishing up a Carpathian Chamois and Brown Bear hunt with Marius at @HUNTROMANIA. I will do a full report of my hunt when I get back to the U.S. Romania is excellent hunting. Varied terrain, numerous large areas to hunt, and a lot of game. We did see...

Has it ever happened to you..

Yes. Yes they do. I've only done 22 African hunts, but in that time I have never been in DG Country with a PH that was not carrying an adequately sized gun. Many/most farms in RSA also have Buffalo, which is always a DG animal. So in my experience they have guns.

Has it ever happened to you..

Yep. I would not say it was dangerous, but it happens. You can bump into a lot of things while hunting in Zim; including that time I nearly fell onto a hippo while sliding down a muddy bank looking at crocs - but that's not PG hunting either. I also nearly urinated on a lion while hunting PG...

    EUROPE: Croatia & Slovenia - Pasat d.o.o.

Very well done. Good report. I really enjoy hunting in Europe. Slovenia is actually among my favorite places on Earth. The fly fishing is excellent as well. I am headed to Romania in a few weeks for the Carpathian Chamois and Euro Brown Bear. Hopefully do as well as you did. I am however...

Due To Cancellation Hunt Offer For October

I take a few days offline to take a kid to college and this offer comes up, and gets sold. Well done Spike, and whoever is taking this hunt.

How many species should I hunt?

You have some very good advice in the earlier posts. Which can mostly be summarized as "take what the bush provides." If you like to plan and research (and if you are on this site asking questions, you probably do), here is a suggestion I started a while ago. Step 1, communicate with PH about...

    My Bucket List Problem

Based on what you are describing, I would highly suggest looking into the Nyasa Game Reserve in northern Mozambique. Its basically the Selous region of Tanzania, only across the border in Mozambique. The day rates are significantly less than Tanzania, its beautiful, very remote, excellent...

    Brown Bear Hunt In Romania

I’ve already been in touch with Marius to get this booked, hopefully this fall. There’s always time for European brown bear hunting.

    Rare/expensive plains game species

Rare and expensive are not necessarily correlated. There are some very limited quotas for something like a Chandler's Mountain Reedbuck (I hunted 1 in Uganda) but the trophy wasn't itself very expensive. The Sudan Roan I hunted on that trip was a different story - that qualified as both rare and...
