So Chapuis Elan's have their regulating wedge sticking out pretty far. Why is that? Why not file it back since they're already regulated to a modern load? Or file it to a rounded tab like I've seen on other rifles.

Yup I saw that and tried to get them to honor the prior price the next day. I had screen caps and everything. They told me I should choose a gun I could afford as though that was the point. For the money, I think the Winchester is going to be a much more polished rifle so I'm aiming for one...

Well, just for sh@ts n giggles... I took a look at the rock island auction coming up and they have at least two relatively affordable doubles in decent cartridges going for sale next month: a rigby rising bit in 470ne and a Krieghoff Classic double in .500/416...

Pocketbook-ready for sure! I hesitated on a Cabela's Big-5 edition for sale locally at $2.2k and now I see one on GunBroker for 3k+. I had been hoping to reach out this weekend!

Plentiful? Sorta… seems like everyone’s capitalizing on the end of production and pulling their $1k cz550 rifle out of the closet and listing it for $2-3k. (Not including the customized ones listed on this forum… those were good deals and i wish i had pounced on them faster.)

Sorry, no. I really love my 270 m70 ftw (2008 deluxe model). The machining is very very clean and the hammer forged barrel has been spectacular. Hoping to get a new production soon. Rumors in this forum indicate they'll be doing a run of them in the summer. Otherwise, I'm looking at a...

In a pinch, I could use those but I really do prefer to roll my own.

Thanks! There's even one going on sale right now. The fit and finish on 550's and zkk602 just seem to leave so much to be desired compared to the new m70. And there's so much fiddling I would need to do on a 550/602 (three posi safety, cut barrel to 22, barrel band, bedding... ~$2-3k)...
