    Mounts on the wall

Great bunch of animals there. Thank you for sharing your shipping info. I am about a week away from my mounts getting to the exporter.

Forget Cape Buffalo when we have these monsters at home

I went to South Dakota in December of 2021 for a bison hunt. Had a blast. We were on a 20,000 acre property. Killed my bull on the second day. My buddy killed one on the first day. If it’s on you bucket list then you need to get it done. I used a 45/70. Was hoping for a 100 yd or less shot...

    Taxidermy Crate Delivered!

Were you satisfied with the “shipping by boat” process and cost? We I’ll have two crates being shipped sometime in the next 4-5 months and due to their size this is the direction we are thinking of using. Most of what I hear is that most if not all of the initial savings is taken up with storage...

What is the TRUE cost of my African Hunting Safari!

Wow. That is a great turnaround time. We got back August 2nd. I don’t expect our taxidermy until later this year. Which is fine. Gives me time to get the new room built.

How much cash do you bring?

I think it’s best to talk to your outfitter and see how he prefers to be paid. This past year mine preferred cash. And the remainder I did a bank transfer when I got home. I took about $10,000 cash. Paid tips with it and put the rest towards bill. It was no problem carrying that much. We were...

    Shipping via cargo ship

Everett, I went and found your write-up and thanks for writing that. I now remember reading it when you posted it. I plan on picking the crate up in Houston to save on the ground transportation. I am wondering what costs will accumulate from the time the crate hits the dock to when I pick it up.

    Shipping via cargo ship

That could be true. I really hope air fare gets less expensive by the end of next year. I would way rather put it on a plane.

    Shipping via cargo ship

My taxidermist uses Zingela Forwarders. Don’t know that I would call it a promise but they did quote me both ways as a request.

    Shipping via cargo ship

Do you have any advise on who to talk to about the extra charges? Is this a discussion to Have with a receiving agent? I have not lined one up yet.

    Shipping via cargo ship

I am happy to read report where someone is happy with shipping by boat. I have time to figure this out. Our hunt was in August so should have 6 or 7 months to make a decision. Receiving the crate wont be an issue. I am hoping pick the crate up myself once it’s cleared. If I have it delivered...

    Shipping via cargo ship

The initial cost estimate is exactly why I am thinking of going the route. The estimate for boat is $3,400 to a port in Houston. Air freight to Denver is $8,700. This will be a good sized crate. 7 shoulder mounts with back skins, a few full rugs and some small stuff. I am hoping the port charges...

    Shipping via cargo ship

The moisture is one of my bigger concerns. But not as big as the hidden charges once the crate hits the docks.

    Shipping via cargo ship

Hey all. First time posting. Has anyone had any recent experiences shipping via cargo ship? We left out animals from a recent hunt to have all the taxidermy done in South Africa. The quote for shipping by boat was about 60% cheaper than by air. I was curious if anyone could tell me if there are...

Is anyone booking Flights for Next year yet?

Our flight was to leave June 30th for J-burg. I am going to wait to see what restrictions the countries have before trying to book for next year. Like others I don’t have unlimited vacation. So if we have to wait till 2022 so be it. Will just have that much more money saved up. Such a hard call...

    Change of plans anyone?

Well it’s official. I cancelled our trip for July 2020. Received an email from Delta and they cancelled our flight on June 30. It was inevitable but was still clinging to a little hope. Oh well. Onto the new planning stage for 2021 or 2022.
