SOUTH AFRICA: A Man’s Word To Shingani

Oh yes I know this animal, congratulations on your hunt & truly massive Klipspringer. I hunted there to a few years back for a big Klippy on my mates farm & was looking at buying a small farm next door ! I posted your photo early but blanked out your face lol I love hunting Klippies &...

    Top 5 plains game?

Of these all the Gemsbok & Bushbuck (sometimes Sable & small antelope) could be considered DG, Bushbuck have injured a lot & killed a few (lots of dogs) & Gemsbok/Giant Oryx are extremely dangerous lucky most are hunted in open country but in the Bushvelt it can be close. I almost lost my best...

Anyone else having problems with CCI primers?

I have been using CCI & Federal for 50yrs also never had an issue ! But Winchester I absolutely wouldn’t trust, had 100s fail in LR & Mag, also messed up several of my bolt faces, the caps failed putting little pits in my bolts. We couldn’t get ANY primers here so made do & I even tried them...

Want To Buy Nosler 9.3mm 286 gr Partitions

Wow sold to Seth on @Raptor59 wanted ad ? If you are hunting Tough Big game the A Frames would be much much better ! The NP in the big calibers isn’t really a good bullet for tough big game. Ok only on leopards of the Big 5, actually great for them !

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

True this ! But for I think a more common & available action the P14 would do & better still one of the BSA Sporter rifles/actions ? I kept buying & then selling them over the years, imagining doing something similar but never did, hard to get a nice stock then & I don’t like the safety, bit...

    But how does it taste?

The issue with Jersey Cattle/Beef is the yellow fat, if I sold one it was down graded a LOT just because of that fat ! I can’t remember if that effected the taste, I don’t think it did ? Zebra has (on the animals/species I’ve seen) yellow fat to, Donkey & normal Horse are tasty as well !

    Saving a Black Rhino

Well I have been on lots of Rhino poacher patrols & caught a few, never had even one in day light & never ever had children any where near the place ! Something is very different here, maybe helping a Vet to stabilise one, fitting it out with tracker or patching up a injuryed animal ?

    But how does it taste?

Most African game seems to taste great, some is just more tasty than others, Waterbuck is fine as others have stated, just keep it clean. Gemsbok & all Oryx’s, including Sable seem to be top of the taste buds, Zebra & Bushpig / Red River hog extremely nice ! Oh Yes Eland is superb & normally...

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

Because believe it or not lots of people in lots of countries can only have one or so high power rifles by law or from financial reasons & a 30/06 will do everything if it has to ! This is the most common line often quoted by people in America who luckily have pretty good firearme laws &...

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

True Matt but very few if any rifles made in .303 in this day & age, (there are thousands out there lol) I think last we’re Ruger No1 & Uberti maybe still Uberti, unfortunately I hear both aren’t very accurate or have problems ? On the 8 bore, I have Shotguns & rifle, very few original brass...

Bolt gun in .375 Flanged Magnum

I have a few of these the .375EX 2 1/2in in WR Styer & Lee Speeds / Lee - Metfords/Enfields it is a powerful cartridge & under rated, has a bit of recoil in light rifles with top loads with 270-320gr bullets. Not based on the .303 Brit cartridge, it can be used to form way short cases but is...

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

True but I have 338/06 which does all the 30/06 work & most of the 9.3x62/338Win mag jobs ! Plus Great range of projectiles , cool old classic cartridge but 338/06 is modern equivalent, that with 35 Whelen & 9.3x62 have it covered, saying that I’d love one in a nice Westley Richards !

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

There are a few but I have a LOT of .303 British rifles & it is a fine caliber with a long list of achievements, be good to see some modern rifles in that caliber, maybe singles & some light doubles ? Pretty sure the .450NE is still made in some doubles & that’s it’s home so it’s Ok for a bit I...

Thoughts on this Double Rifle by the experts here?

That’s a nice rifle & regulated ok with that load, May do better with load work ? While I love the .458Win it’s place is not in a Double Rifle, the price is reasonable being in CAD & I think it could possibly be rechambered to .450NE it would then be a very nice rig . Not too keen on the...
