    7x57m handloads

Wow Guy's. Lots of good usable info there. Think i'm going to go the 7-08 route as I have a good selection of listed powders.

    7x57m handloads

Ya, i figure i'll lose about 100fps. I can live with that. I just wonder how the Brno will handle the extra velocity.

    7x57m handloads

As per another thread i started on 7x57 info, everything has come together and it's time to do some reloading, That's where the questions start. Hornady lists the 162 Amax at 2500fps, but i find lot's of other data that bests that by 200fps. I want to get the most from the Amax as i have a ton...

    Is $1700 fair for a Remington 798 375h&h

To put things into perspective, I paid what would translate to around $950 US for mine. It is the Safari model with walnut stock, 23" barrel with barrel band and it is spotless. Same condition as brand new. At $1700 US, someones getting hosed.

Ya know guy's i'm starting to think we're talking 2 different guns. Couldn,t source Warne or Talley, so tried Burris medium so unless the Warne are waaaaaaay higher they won't be even close to fitting.

Well, i was able to find a scope. Zeiss Diavari-c 3-9x36, but am unable to find rings that give the needed bolt clearance. There is a very limited selection at the dealers near me and i hesitate to order online if i"m not sure i am getting the right ones. Any suggestions welcome.

    7x57 info

I am going to see what my rifle likes as far as 175gr RNs. They are what i would like to use for black bear, up close and personal (<50yds). Find a good load for 162 A-max for longer shots on deer, and maybe moose as well. Many have fallen to the 6.5x55. Moose are easy to kill, but hard to...

Thank you. I may take you up on that offer. I will give it a little more time, as i won' t have the bullets for another week and am now haggling over a scope.

    7x57 info

All i need now is some brass, seems to be like hens teeth hereabouts, and the scope. Made a lucky strike and sourced 1000 Hornady 162gr A-max bullets for pennies on the dollar, so keeping my fingers crossed that the rifle likes them.

Yes. I meant they were not a remedy on their own, rather they needed the right scope.

    7x57 info

According to my research, Alaska arms can offer no help, nor Talley or Warne. The trick is to find the right scope. As far as modifying the bolt handle, the rifle is in pristine condition and i can't bring myself to change a thing on it. It has lasted, unaltered, this long, i will not be the...

    7x57 info

Lot's of good info here to sift thru. There seems to be a concensus for 160-175gr bullets, so that will be my starting point. Now, if i can just find a scope that fit's, life will be good. Thanks for all the suggestions. Earl

No joy at the local gun shop. Not a scope in the place would work. Guess e-bay is my only alternative and i'll have to find one in Canada, as we can't import one. oh well, the looking is half the fun/

    7x57 info

Just got myself a sweet little Brno carbine in 7x57. I want to use it for this fall's black bear hunt. Looking for recommendations for bullet selection. I do handload. Shots are typically 50yds or less. Rarely over 100. What will dump the most energy inside those ranges? Thots appreciated.

What's the next cartridge your looking to add to your collection and what role will it fill?

Winchester 1886, color case hardened in 45-90 with an octagon 24" barrel. Just because.

    Favorite Lubricants 2023?

You may be right, but i am pretty sure there is no plastic finish on the M70 that i have. Looks and feels like an oil finish. Maybe i am wrong.

    Favorite Lubricants 2023?

Any suggestions regarding the woodwork? Have a brand new M70 in 458WM that i just bought and the stock is a dull oil finish. I would like something to put a bit of sheen to it and protect it at the same time. Looks like pretty nice grain pattern if i can find something to apply.

    Good Gun Deals This Week

Hi. Not sure if this is the right forum, but this is a F. Doumoulin rifle i am thinking on. I asked a few months ago for any info, but none was forthcoming. I finally am able to post (badly) a few pic's. Anybody got any this. The seller is looking for $1900 US. It is a 458 win mag custom build.

    Movies Film

Yes, the opening scene of the boy's chasing the union rep down the dock and Henry Fonda yelling to release the hounds was classic. Then tossing dynamite at the poor guy as he tried to get away in the skiff. Kesey may have been a hippie, but he could write.

    Movies Film

I seen it in the theatre when it was first released, and a few times since. I thot Henry Fonda's cranky old tough as nails bastard was perfect. I liked One Flew Over the Cuckoo's as well, but i think Some Times a Great Notion adapted better as a movie.

    Good Gun Deals This Week

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know much about Montana rifles? I think they are closed, but re-opened under a new name maybe. Reason i ask is because i am looking at a Model 1999 Pro-Hunter in 505Gibbs. Asking price is $2300 U.S. I know there were lot's of complaints...

Saltwater Trolling Reel Hx80 That Can Catch Tuna

Nice enough looking reels, but subject to mixed reviews. How do they compare to Avet reels. They seem about one half the price. Tuna in the pic's don't look like much of a work out for an 80 class reel. How do they perform on 150-200lb tuna etc. Any salt water intrusion?

    Barnes bullet data

Thanks to all for the replies. I have the Barnes manual (#4), but it doesn't list these bullets. I will not be using them for anything more dangerous than paper. Barnes sent me the data from the #3 manual, but there is no data on this particular bullet.

    Barnes bullet data

Received a box of these a few years ago on a trade. I finally obtained a 416 Remington (M=70) and want to use these up, but can't find any reloading data. Anyone know a decent load for these bullets, or where i can find data? As always thanks for any help.

    Talk about price gouging

Impossible to import powder (or live ammo) into Canada and the only Cabela's is 30miles away, but none in stock. My point was that $250 delivery if ordering online is outright robbery. There are only a few Cabela's in all of Canada. Many would have no option other than to order on-line.

    Talk about price gouging

I actually live a few blocks from Epp's, and the truth is, they have very, very little powder in stock, and virtually none of the popular one's. Thanks for the thought tho.

    Talk about price gouging

Components here in Canada are hard to come by, and pricey. Checked this morning to see if Cabela's had any powder in stock. Very little and priced around $80 a lb, CDN. What caught my attention was a notation stating a shipping fee of $250 CDN. That's just wrong. Period.
