Anyone have a suggestion on a place to find a decent gun cabinet? Looking for something that I can put in my office that is relatively secure, but allows me to display a few firearms

Search “vintage wood gun cases. Many choices from expensive Victorian to rustic American

I found mine at an estate sale in Dallas… literally paid less than $20 for it…

Mine isn’t particularly nice… but it’s vintage/antique (mid 60’s) made by a well regarded cabinet/furniture maker from that time period…

Here’s one up for grabs on an auction in Missouri, not too far from you…

“1st Dibs” has very nice vintage furniture. But they start auctions high. You can usually find similar items much cheaper. Put the word out to half dozen antique sellers. What your looking for.

Not a bad price but shipping would kill you. Take some images to local cabinet makers and see if they can give you a quote. They can make something that exactly fits the space you have available.

I haven’t had a gun cabinet made, but I took an old Lane cedar chest to a local carpenter. I had it finished into a giant humidor for my dad. It was less expensive than buying him a new, smaller humidor.

I did not intend for him to buy that exact item. Just that there are lot of them out there. Most people don’t use them anymore so. You can get nice ones cheap. Ask local antique dealers to find you one.

Look into having the Amish make you one.

If there is an Amish population that you have access to and don’t mind the wait, you could have exactly what you want built.

I have quite a bit of Amish made furniture, do be aware just because it is Amish made doesn’t make it high quality or lower cost. The buyer still needs to qualify the builder.

I too found a lovey mid-nineteenth century one in a local antique shop in Northern Virginia. It is also fairly easy to convert a shallow antique bookcase into a nice gun cabinet.

They have a great selection of gun cabinets and they ship at reasonable prices.

I worry about someone breaking the glass do any of these have laminated glass options?
That's why they are frequently for sale; most have switched to using "gun safes" (actually Residential Security Containers in most cases). You can find some fairly nice wooden gun cabinets at estate sales and auctions because of that.

It's really a shame, as some are quite well constructed. But it's the reality of the world in which we currently live.

You can also add a locking bar across the barrels at the gun rest location. Won't stop someone from totally destroying your case but will prevent the curious fingers.

Look for "Bulla Casseforti d'autore", an Italian brand, totally made in Italy, they deliver world over. Top quality, top safety, and very pleasant to the eyes. Also they can customize every aspect of the product. To me, best of the best. I have one and is super. There's a heavy duty metal case, bombproof. Outside is covered in wood. Velvet and lights inside. That is mine, just before delivered to me. They do everything you need, for as many guns you need.

This one for example is way bigger than mine and can hold much more guns I guess
Mind you, it seems a wooden forniture, but it's an heavy metal safe, covered in wood.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.

I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).

Very interested.

Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?

I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
