Greetings from the foothills of Boulder County!

Lifelong Colorado elk hunter, with experience hunting deer in Kansas and hogs in Texas.

I am a Research Engineer for a DoD contractor and a prior service active duty Army O3.

I am also a connoisseur of vintage firearms, with a moderate multinational collection of classic military/sporting pieces, and a strong appreciation of African hunting lore and equipment.

Depending on how things go, an African hunt could definitely be on my radar screen in the next decade or so, especially after my son gets some good elk experience under his belt.

[Edit to add that I joined last year, but did not get around to posting until today...]

Welcome on from CO.
Asking questions is the best way to get excited about going to Africa.

Welcome to AH from another (hate to admit this) Boulder County, CO member! I don’t know how old your son is, but my 12 year old granddaughter just got her hunters safety certificate and now she says she needs to go to Africa with me(y)! My next trip is suppose to be for lion, but I may have to change that!

Ridgewalker, we have done several Grandfather/Granddaughter safaris with excellent success. We would be honored to host you and your brand new African hunting partner

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
