Has anyone flown this nonstop route on Jet Blue? When I went in 2017 I flew SAA, but with their recent troubles I'd like to avoid them. Other suggested carriers/routes from JFK?

Think the only other option would be JFK - frankfurt the to JNB bit that just adds on the hours.

would recommend Atlanta - JHB with Delta.
Long flight but a very good flight

My best advice to you is to find a good overseas travel agent such as Lori at Travel Express. She will take the worry out of flying to SA. When I was looking she actually got me a better rate than I could of got myself.

She told me to avoid Jet Blue for my US flight. Also if you are just flying into Joberg then SAA might not be bad. My experience on their flight out of NYC wasn't bad at all.

Plus with Lori you will know that she will be up on what is going on mostly with flights out of NYC to SA.

Glad you have been on it before or I'd have told you not to do it! It is such a long flight, it was almost torture for me. I'll take the leg through london or doha from now on. The flights at least are shorter, even though it's more air time.

Thanks, Jim. I booked with Travel With Guns last time. I'll definitely be using an agent again. One extra layer of feel-good when traveling with firearms.

SAA is on borrowed time. You might get to the Airport an all flights cancelled. Best is travel agent. Patrick @ Travel With Guns is also a good option to use.

JetBlue doesn't fly to SA. They might have a code share with one of the airlines in the next sentence but they themselves are a primarily domestic airline with some service to the Caribbean, Mexico and South America. Virgin Atlantic, Delta, British Airways, Qatar, Air France, Emirates, KLM and Turkish Airways all provide one stop service to JNB from KFK.

Thanks, Bonk. I saw that now that I opened up the details more.

Travel With Guns is good, they will take care of you.

I don't mind flying domestic and doing my own flights but when I have to depend on a carrier to get me to another country and home I'll use a agent every time. The agent will take care of your flights even when something changes and you can't be contacted to do it yourself

For those not aware,, Jet Blue will not transfer firearms to another carrier. You must do that and at JFK it aint no fun at all! I will avoid them whenever possible.

Ditto Patrick.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
