Tell me about Uganda-

What is there to know about hunting in Uganda? I recall reports of lots of Buffalos, and a mature population with many older bulls.

Are there many outfits that operated there? Any recommendations?

Any species in particular that are found only in that area? What about the Big 5?

I would be interested in Bowhunting and it seems like a newish opportunity to hunt game that is not as spooky as other more pressured hunting areas?

Dear @wildwilderness Uganda does allow bow hunting there is some proper hunting available even better fishing also some of the species includes the following:
Uganda Kob, Nile Buffalo, East African Sitatunga, Defassa Waterbuck, Lelwel Hartebeest, East African Eland, Eastern Bohor Reedbuck, Topi, Zebra, Warthog, Oribi and Gunthers Dik Dik.

Will send some info if needed.

How do the Prices compare to other countries? If it is on the higher end do you think it is worth it?
If you start trying to bounce around areas in Uganda it can get pricey in a hurry. There is a lot of speciality plains game throughout the country that one could target.

One could go hunt buffalo and stay in a single area for +-18-20k in day rates plus trophy fees. If you start adding areas it gets to premium Massailand costs in a hurry.

I recently got back from a fantastic hunt with Uganda Wildlife Safaris booked through Tim Herald. I'm going to post a hunt report soon, but I will say I saw more buffalo my first afternoon in Karamoja than I had in my previous 5 safaris combined.

Yes, the people are very friendly. My brother-in-law is there right now (something to do with a church) and will be reporting back I'm sure.
Ask him about the drums! I remember when I was up near lake bunionyi on a Sunday all you could hear was these drums and loads of singing.
I would tell my clients to grab the salt so they could be well seasoned when cooked as the Cannibals, we’re on the way :ROFLMAO:

Bet I could not get away with that now some Delicate flower, and get offended:sick::whistle:

I hunted there with Bruce Martin (Lake Albert Safaris) several years ago. GREAT hunt with a GREAT outfitter. Not cheap but way less than some other hunts I've taken. I took Ugandan Kob, Nile Bushbuck, Nile Buff, and Guenthers Dik Dik. Tried for a Sesse Island Sitatunga but no dice.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
