So as I'm in the process of purchasing my first Whitworth in 375 H&H I was wondering what the best options would be for things such as scope mounts, recoil pad, and possible trigger upgrade or just adjustment.
Would also like to get a front sight hood to replace the one that is missing.
I have no experience whatsoever in this type of rifle up to this point.

Congratulations on your new rifle!
I went with Leupold QD mounts and rings and a Pachmayr red Decelerator pad, I was able to adjust the factory trigger to a very clean 3.5 pounds so didn't bother replacing it. As far as a front sight hood goes I think one of the used parts dealers or fleabay would be your best bet, for what it's worth, I take the hood off my rifle while actually hunting, 4 or 5 quick shots will cause it to slide right off the ramp.

Thank you for your input. I'll Google a trigger adjustment video.
I thought maybe a non visible dab of jb weld might keep a hood in place once I find one.
Are all the mauser type triggers the same as far as adjustment?

If you determine you must replace the trigger, timney makes an excellent trigger for commercial mausers that should drop right in (and is very affordable)

I have seen several variations on the Mauser 98 trigger but you should be able to find a relevant video once you figure out which one you have, yours may be fine as is. I don't know about the JB Weld, I thought at some point I would likely just put a different front sight on but it hasn't really been a problem to this point. I should add that my rifle was purchased off of gunbroker and the hood was crushed when I got it so I had to straighten it out before it would even work so that may have some bearing also.

Yes they do! I have one of these on my Husqvarna 640, it had a military style 2 stage whrn I got it and I have another on a 1908 Brazilian action that is going to be my light weight 7x57 at some point in the future.

Thank you all for the advice,
It'll be a bit before the rifle is in my hands but I'll show off when it gets here

If you do not find one I will try to get you one in when we come to the states in June. We remove hoods from all front sight on dangerous game rifles, got a jar full! We will be putting a .375 H&H into use later this year as a client rifle. This is the work that has been done since purchase, one added cross bolt, glass bedding, timney trigger, 8-40 scope base screws weaver style 2 piece scope mounts with QR rings, scope will be 2x5 Swarovski, red dot Leupold with QR. I consider this a good all around Rental rifle. I agree with Bee Maa on NECG front sight. We will be able to offer a similarly equipped Jefferies in .404.

Maybe this is not the place to make this statement and it may upset some people, but my personal feeling is that it is going to become more and more difficult to travel to Africa with firearms and or ammunition. This is the reason that we have slowly built up a small group of client rifles, with well known makers, Win M-70, Rigby, Jefferies and now a Whitworth that will have to prove itself. calibers .375H&H and .404J. Also one Ruger 77 in .308 for plains game.

Very nice,
I have a 2.5x10 nightforce I'm considering using.
Only considering cuz I have to steal it off my dad's rifle. But he hasn't used it in years preferring to now hunt with an old octagon winchester in .32 special

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
