The Dakota is .560" at the base of the shoulder, the Rigby is only .539. The base of the Rigby is a bit larger...so seems like once you have either, you are stuck without setting the barrel back or getting a new barrel.

2,800 fps, with a 1 in 8 twist, to get the suggested rps. I have never seen a 375 anything with a twist nearly that fast... With a 1 in 10 twist you will need 3,500 fps. (4200/12) x 10 Something wrong with this picture. You'd need a 375 based on the 50 BMG.

I have been loading, shooting and killing stuff with the 45-70 since 1974. I have bullets from 250 to 550 grains, and several good bullet molds. So for me, the utility is there with the 45-70. You just need to know your trajectory and estimate range well! :)

Now my wife is piling on and telling me to go with the 45-70. I should just tell her we need multiple Bradshaw rifles. That will solve the dilemma! 7x65R, 375 Flanged Mag N.E. and 45-70. :)

Nice bear!! I do think I might have had the rifle in the foreground though, and not the background!!! :) P.S. Had my son out shooting 45-70 this weekend and now there is a discussion about going back to 45-70/45-90 for the Rising Block...LOL).

I would need arms like Wilt Chamberlain to use the traditional truck rack...it is a LOOONG way back to the window on a MegaCab! Maybe one that holds a rifle on the top of the dash? Good use for the Ruger American. That or I get a Hillbilly special regular cab!

Yes sir! And in a strong single-barrel rifle (with no regulation worries) you can load it to full 375 belted rimless power levels, when needed. :)

Been stuck on the 375 Flanged Magnum N.E. for a while now. Have brass, dies and tons of 375 bullets...so every time I think about changing, my practical side says "why"? Besides, my existing 375 Flanged has been betrothed to another...so that has me more steadfast in my decision.

I finally got some time in the loading room the past week...after a couple of dry months! Loaded: 104 35 Remington 50 300 H&H 111 30-30 100 300 Blackout Next in queue will be 45-70, 32 Special and 375 Flanged.
