For Sale 450/400 NE Ruger No. 1 New Unfired With Starter Package

This is a comment from Classic Sporting Arms, a website specializing in No 1s.

Also made, but never cataloged, were about 30 1H in 450/400 N. E. in the D weight barrel. All previous 450/400’s made were with a C weight barrel.

Pay no attention to the smarty-pants from Colorado. He's just yanking your chain! :)

I loved my 450-400 (I had a Boddington Buffalo) and put nearly 600 rounds through it in preparation for a Cape Buffalo hunt (I ended up hunting with a 450 Dakota, but that's another story).

Try to find some 400gr Hornady to practice with. A nice 2,000 fps load to start with, will get you familiar with the rifle without beating you up.

I do recommend you replace the hard Ruger pad with something like a Pachmayr Decelerator. Makes the rifle more comfortable to shoot and I appreciated the extra length of pull.

I would love to have another 450-400 one day....a lovely cartridge!

I bought this a few years ago, (been discontinued) it has never been fired. It is mint... not a mark on it. With this package comes 120 rounds of brand new Hornady brass, RCBS safari dies with a CH4 neck sizing die ... all never used. I’m gonna be firm on this because I don’t care whether it sells. 1675.00 takes it shipping included from FFL to your FFL only. A chance to own a piece of Africa without a major piece of your financial being.

Is this still for sale ? If it is I will take it.

4adam12,

That is an excellent buy. The 450/400 is a great caliber and can be loaded down for deer or up for very large game.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
