Have any of you guys put a 3 position safety on a Remington 700. If so what brand? And how do you like it? Thanks

If i may ask, why do you want to put a 3 position safety on? I like the 2 position that remington comes with.

For the most part I do as well. When I hunt with my pack or in really thick brush I have had the bolt get pushed up a little and can’t fire. The older Remingtons would lock the bolt but then you have to have it on fire to unload. If you use good gun safety that isn’t so bad, but I never like having a gun on fire when I have others near by.

My understanding is that the 2 position safeties only block the trigger from actuating so the sear is still engaged and is the only thing holding the firing pin from firing. A 3 position safety on the shroud takes up the spring tension and mechanically blocks the passage of the firing pin. It also allows the rifle to be unloaded whilst “on safe”
Hope I have those details correct

SRvet,
You are corrrect! The M70 style 3-position safety is very safe.

Years ago I had a custom rifle built on a LH Rem 700 action. It included a wing-type 3 position safety. Cannot recall who made it and the rifle is long gone.

Recknagel do a 3 position safety for a Rem 700

Definitely a safer safety

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
