Australia and now South Africa
So the 25 creedmoor has been released.
Does it have a place or is it redundant in the hunting world?

Will @Bob Nelson 35Whelen be building a modern .25 and sporting a ManBun?

Will it help bring more variety of .25 cal projectiles online

Chris it will still be a man in just in 25 cal
If'n I'd known about the new 130+gn that were coming out in 25 cal I would have got a 1:8 twist barrel. A 131gn long aerodynamic bullets at 3,000fps would hold their velocity a long long way out.
As is John Barsness said the 25-06 is a better long range cartridge than the 6.5 creede.
Why do they just want to try and reinvent the wheel.
Bob

That looks like a decent option for my daughter. She's about 90 lbs. Just need to find a left hand in a youth model. Which is highly unlikely...
There are youth model .243’s. My wife’s Weatherby GH2 is a compact in girly colours. Bob will probably say it’s a girly cartridge.

I think there are youth 7mm-08 rifles. Asking for a left handed model limits the options greatly but there may be something.

I used a 7mm-08 with lighter loads from the vehicle. I’m considerably heavier than your daughter but recoil did not bother me from the car and I was able to shoot quickly and accurately from the vehicle without considering recoil or flinching.
I think the Tikka CTR does come in a left handed but it’s just in the heavy end of a hunting rifle weight with the medium profile 20” barrel.

I like the 7-08. I was able to get my other daughter (her twin btw) a Browning X-Bolt Micro midas in left hand in that caliber but unable to find another one so far. Left hand really limits my options. Both my girls are left eye dominant so I started them shooting leftie from the get go. I will keep looking. No big rush. I have e RH 243 she is shooting now. It's just a little awkward for her.

I see no reason to replace my 257 wb
I have 0 interest in shooting anything not wounded past 500yd and that would be crop damage permit. True hunting 400 yds max really want everything inside 300yds

It’s will not be a game changer for hunting, it’s going to be the next latest thing for target shooters/ paper punching, who like high B.C low recoil,
Who is going to start making a strong hunting bullet for 1/4 cals, .25 ?
I personally wouldn’t go to Africa, elk , nilgai, simbar hunting with it , but would be comfortable with a .257 weatherby

Chris after seeing your post on the 25 creedmore seems it shits all over the 6.5 out to a mile and with different bullets for hunting like a 110 gn accubond at over 3,200fps it would be a fine and dandy deer cartridge but once again it ain't doing anything the 257 Roberts or 25-06 haven't been doing for years. Out a fast twist on those cartridges and you have an even better cartridge.

@Flbt
My 25 with 100gn TTSX sighted 2" high at 100 is still 2" high at 200, zero at 300 and 8" low at 400.
That covers a lot of territory with a dead in hold.

@pilar
They already make strong hunting bullets in 25 cal. 110gn accubond, 115gn swift AFrames and Sirocco, and Barnes 100gn TTSX, 115 gn tsx.
For really flat shooting my mate uses 80gn outer edge monos at 3,900 fps out of his 25.
@One Day... Killed everything he shot with one shot using 100gn TTSX in his 257 Weatherby at 3,500fps.
My own 25 puts the same bullet out at 3,660fps .

According to the wb charts the 87gr is going 3825 sighted on at 200yds -7.3 at 400 yds
From what I have seen at fl elevation it flys a bit flatter.
About 4.5 in below point of aim at 400 and a hand full of deer
And about a foot low. At 500yd shoting as pest control

Now I have not really done much of the longer range stuff I the last 3 years.
So I probably can’t anymore.
It’s just with hunting I don’t want to shoot that far
And if I have my nephews with me I don’t want to put long range in a hunting situation for them.

@Flbt
I'm in the same boat.
It just that I like to sight my rifles in for the max point blank range just in case that once in a lifetime shot pops up.
I can honestly say 99% of my game is shot at less than 200 yards and less
It's just nice to know that your rifle will do the job at longer ranges.
Each time I go hunting where possible I set up some targets at 4-500yards to shoot just for practice X because you just never know.

And 3,500 fps is exactly what Weatherby 100 gr TTSX factory ammo clocks in my R8 barrel :)

Deadly indeed, from Klipspringer to Roan in my experience, although I used it on Roan for the sake of experimentation (it worked!), but I would limit my shots with the .257 Wby at 600+ lbs animals to behind the shoulder double-lungs-heart shots and I prefer to bolt the .300 Wby barrel with 165 gr TTSX when I go specifically after these.

I bought the 257 wb for crop damage use.
Hogs , deer and believe it or not coyotes will eat a lot of watermelon
And the deer and hogs are pure hell on peanuts and sunflower.
My buddy had a few feilds that I was the only one he wanted to shoot because of roads and houses.
And you need all the advantages you could get on them big fields.
My 6 is dammed good out to 200 but it’s down on power at 300.
Not only did we need to put the animals down for there sake but you did not want them running on the plastic in the field and didn’t want more blood than nessary on any melons.
And we had to get them out of the field.
With the watermelon my buddy wanted any melons picked that got messy and the hogs were even worse worrying about disease.
That was right after a few out brakes of stuff around the country and the government was talking about ways to track anything back to the farms.

So back then the extra expense of the 257 wb was worth it.

Townsend @Bob Nelson 35Whelen is still working on building his Savage in his .25 Samurai wildcat. I don’t think he’ll have time for both. LOL

@CoElkHunter
Mate had the 25 Samurai built on a shortened 50 BMG case necked to 25.. loaded with a snoot full of 2225. Muzzle velocity was unreal with those black 131 gn ultra low drag bullets. Over the chrony at 4,890fps from a 30" barrel. Man it stacked 5 shots into 0.1 inches at 100 and less than a half inch at 500.
Only problem was I couldn't test it out further ( I did have a one mile range we were using)
BUT
But by the time I did some loads development and sighted it in, then fired a few five shots groups from a hundred to 500 the bloody barrel was completely stuffed. Less than 65 rounds and it was more rooted than me.
Another big problem was the muzzle flash, man that thing would light green grass at 25 yards it was that bad.
I don't think I will build another the world ain't ready for it with that much velocity and fury.

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen - how high are your scope rings on that .25-06? If you zero 2” high at 100 yrds and also at 200 yrds - that bullet must be 2 1/2”+ high somewhere inbetween ??

I started playing around with hybrid cases made from the 277 fury case. Can start really pushing velocity and pressures on 6.5 150s to 3100 out of a 20” barrel pretty easy. The 25 has its place, just another mousetrap with its own merits.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
