Yes. The major advantage of a semi auto rifle OR shotgun is the reduction of felt recoil. When shooting heavy calibered rifles or multi shots with 3-3.5” waterfowl shotgun loads, the reduced recoil is welcomed. One of my hunting friends here has a Browning BAR .300WM for that very reason. The rifle is heavy though, so I choose to hunt with my Browning A Bolt .338WM. Where legal, the semi autos have their place. To each their own.Savage Axis is hugely popular here as well since Sako raised Tikka T3x prices..
Limit for big game I didn't know about. Just thought people didn't like hauling extra weight on elk hunts. Honestly it's pretty rare situation where you need to get second shot out faster than one can with a bolt gun. Usually the limiting factor is being able to get the crosshair back on the target.
