Well this is the kind of post I hate to make. I was contacted by Ghunt8 regarding my interest in purchasing some 9.3mm 286 gr Partitions. Relatively new member with few posts. That usually puts me off a purchase. He indicated he had 4 boxes and sent me a picture of the boxes with a sticky attached with the current date and time. I negotiated a purchase of two boxes and paid by USPS money order sent priority mail. The money order was delivered, cashed and I haven’t heard from this individual again. His name is Todd Reed 2011 Queens Highway Kerhonksen, NY

Do not buy from this individual. He joined in the July 2024 timeframe and has commented on various posts. I don’t know if anyone else has tried to purchase from him, but do not.

That sucks....

Looks like a photo shop pic. No dude writes that good. Come on man…lol. Sorry you got taken, nothing worse than a thief.

It’s come to this?!?!
What next, a picture of today’s paper like they used to do in hostage negotiations?

Sorry to hear of the scam - so shitty.
That is quite common in gunpost transactions in Canada I took a subscription to the paper just for that reason because I was asked for it so often.

Crooks are everywhere today.

Since payment was sent through the USPS and it was a USPS money order have you talked to the PO concerning mail fraud?

Sorry for what happened. Normal scammer/pattern behavior. I’ve gotten to the point that I wouldn’t do business with an unknown member on a WTB ad. Or via PM concerning something I’ve voiced interest in.

There’s another member I’ve started noticing lately. Joined 1-2 years ago but started posting like crazy in the last month or so. Typical plain vanilla, quasi-knowledgeable, on a lighter note posts. Been waiting for him to post a classified ad

Well, we have his name and address, anybody feel like going on a quest?
Scammers are stupid to steal from people who know how to use firearms and hunt things that hide well.
I know that sounds like a threat but it was meant to be slightly humorous.
Sorry you were taken, that really sucks.

What I just don’t understand… 18 U.S.C. § 1343 defines wire fraud as using wire, radio, or television communication (this includes internet) across state lines to defraud someone. This is a federal crime with up to 20 years in prison (ie, hey, you dropped the soap)…
My take is forum users should band together to push aggressively for enforcement. A few dudes go to jail with a federal crime for even a couple years for scamming AH members because of aggressive enforcement, it might set the tone…

That card may not be photo shopped - likely didn’t learn to write in America though. Looks like felt tip pen. The hatched 7 is more common in many foreign countries and the cap G construction is even more telling, possibly Asia origin?? Could be either male or female. Matters little though with lost $. Dang :(

While I agree with you, the likelihood of getting law enforcement to act is slim to none; the amount of felony fraud out there is mind boggling.

If you’ve bought gift cards from a store lately you’ll probably see a disclaimer pop up on the register or receipt that says some to the effect of…

“If someone from the internet is telling you to buy these gift cards and mail them you are probably of a victim of fraud.”

Too bad that happened - sounds like you did what you could to verify and it went wrong on you. That sucks,

There is a dedicated federal website to file internet wire fraud cases and a USPS site as well. I am also going to see which police agency handles Kerhonksen, NY Ulster County.

Raptor-I believe I have some. If I do, I'll send them to you gratise. Report this dude to the owner of this website.

Corey that is very considerate of you. I actually have some of the Hornady Interlock 9.3 286 gr bullets. I am going to make a note of your gracious gesture and tuck it away. Thank you again so much.
Robert

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
