Yes this is a normal practice.

Thanks! Always nervous about passing along personal information.

Likewise.

We travelled through Europe when we were married and was quite concerned when we checked into our rooms and the teenager manning the front desk took our passports and nonchalantly opened a drawer and tossed them in with about 30 others.

Took a little bit of getting used to…

Good idea. Try to steal stuff or wreck the room and you don't get your passport back until the hotel is paid. However, the drawer should be LOCKED.

its std practice
he may need that and some personal info for permits etc

In some cases they need the passport info to apply for your hunting permits.

Yes. You may have to provide a copy for shipping taxidermy too

Very normal...if they DON'T ask for it, something is off! Where are you going and for what? We love to hear about as many hunts as possible around here.

Limpopo is a great area for your first or 10th hunt. The shots are not usually long there...under 100 is common and often less than 50. We highly recommend practicing shooting from sticks before you go. Get away from the bench and setup the sticks to practice getting setup quickly. Besides being safe, the #1 goal is to setup up quickly and quietly for a shot while the PH is making a decision. Trust your PH!

Yes, they need it for your hunting license

In my country we need to announce national police any hunter is coming to hunt here and send them copies of: passport, gun license and hunting license.
If the hunter is traveling with his gun we need to ask for the preliminary approvals from border police sending copies after passport, gun and hunting license.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
