Once this clears up and becomes stabilized, I’m going to take the opportunity to book my Niassa hunt with David Langerman for this year as I will be able to pick my preferred dates. If it still is dicey then I can always postpone.
I'm booked to go back to L9 block in the Niassa in Sept, 2026 with @KWALATA SAFARIS and plan on retaining that booking. Everyone needs to make their own decisions and I would not fault anyone for what they decide, one way or the other.
But this is a big blow to Kambako. As I understand it, the operators cannot get insurance for their camps. I think it would be surprising to many just how much is spent to build up those camps and subsequently maintain them. It is also a big blow to the people in the area that are employed by the various outfitters operating in the Niassa as well as the meat provided to feed the locals.
