I like Your rifle and caliber choice and the reason behind the choice.
I personally agree with .243 statement - don't know why but I always imagine that cartridge lying next to the lipstick .... and even the lipstick looks more dangerous than winchester [emoji38] On the other hand a friend of mine hunts wild boars and red deers with it. But the perfect shot placement is necessary.
Regarding Your way of thinking, please allow me to add:
- Do not even think letting Your little boy start with .22lr! This would be just nonsense.

- I strongly suggest: ignore earmufs and suppressors! - these things are for sissies.

- A friend of mine hunts with Sako Deerhead in 6.5 CM, but the animals make like ten to twenty paces after being shot, so it seems pretty much useless.
