Hello colleagues,

Obviously I've just joined. Although I have been taking a look at this forum since being in Africa on a work trip back in 2014. I've hunted big and small game off and on, as well as upland birds, since I was a teenager in California. I've lived abroad some and have always been interested in firearms. I've always had and interest in the big bores used for African hunting but never had the opportunity to own or use them. So I still keep a lookout for these rifles and regularly see what members are selling here. Glad to become a member.

Welcome to AH

Greetings Sundance,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

I too lived in California for a time (born in Torrance).
While living in North-Central Calif., during the early to mid 1970’s, I shot my first hoofed animal (feral hog) in Colusa County.
That was with my old early production Ruger M-77, .257 Roberts and now sadly discontinued 3x Leupold scope.

Likewise, I have been interested in firearms as far back as I can remember.
Many but not all types of firearms are fascinating to me.
As such, my main interest in them is hunting rifles, specifically Mauser rifles, single shot rifles and double rifles (double barrelled shotguns as well).
I am also fond of certain vintage handguns.
And don’t even get me started on antique fly fishing tackle, Tonkin cane rods, Winchester reels and so forth.

Well anyway, when you can spare a moment, I invite you to have a look into the Khomas Safaris website.

Best Regards.
Velo Dog.

Welcome to AH! I grew up in the DC area, but over on the other side of the Potomac near Rockville.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
