The TRUTH behind the liberal worlds false hero.....

With regards to the 1988 Roodepoort ABSA bank bomb... A friend and I were driving out of a parking lot and were cut off by another car. We decided to turn right instead of left as intended. Those people in that car were where we would have been at the traffic lights outside the bank. They were either killer or injured.

Not to say I agree with Vasper, but as a TL;DR, there's definitely cultural differences in attitudes to defense and military organisations in those nations than in America, mostly ones brought upon themselves that today may not at first glance seem to fit the modern day reality and which may not be echoed by external observers in third party states like us.

While I appreciate and understand your perspective that different cultures have different views, that's not the issue I took with Vasper's comments. He made a statement that seemed to imply that Germany should not have the right to a national defense out of guilt for WW2. Furthermore he implied that there are currently other nations,, or at least peoples, that are wary of Germany and Japan's present day military because of their past... I found that implication to be off if not downright silly, and I asked him for a clarification and specific examples of who exactly he was referring to.. I would still like to hear from him directly..

Just from an European perspective, often when German soldiers are shown in the media, or a more belligerent (conservative/right) politician from Germany speaks up there are immediate snide remarks referencing WW2. Unjustified, sure, but the remarks remain.

Very unjustified and it's a shame because I'm sure the modern German soldier is rightly proud to wear his uniform. But they still have a defence force even if it is only to DEFEND. The 2% they were supposed to be spending never happened and they relied on the USA to pay their shortfall or at least protect them if it ever hit the fan. They are now in a position where if Russia went "BOO!" they would not be able to BOO back.

Nobody whatsoever is afraid of Germany or Japan, both have risen above the Nazi and Japanese Emperor worship stage. A loooooong time ago.

They are not the only European country to allow their state of readiness to decline to appalling levels. You can't enjoy the fruits of being a NATO member if you're not going to plough your agreed share of the money into it.

I realize that Europe endured suffering and occupation during WW2 that the United States did not... So, while I certainly understand the lingering bitterness, the reality of a present day threat from them is non-existent. That was my issue with Vasper's implication..

If you look at the post below you can see that Vashper said quite clearly that any nation has a right to national defense. I have bolded the sentence where he states or implies this below.
Yes, indeed, some peoples are very suspicious of German and Japanese militarism - no one has canceled historical memory. But of course, it is the sovereign right of every nation - what it will spend its national product on.
In the meantime, the Germans are being persuaded to abandon cheap and reliable energy sources, which, first of all, will lead to an increase in the cost of German products and a loss of competitiveness. Who benefits from it - let everyone decide for himself. How bad will it be for Putin? Perhaps more harmful than excommunication from Lego and pornhub, but, I think, not much

In terms of historical memory this issue is kind of complicated. For instance the Nazi occupation of France and Norway resulted in relatively few civilian casualties in these countries. If you were a French civilian living in Nazi occupied France and you were not a Jew or in the resistance movement, the vast majority of the French population were not members of resistance movements, then you were probably far safer than a British civilian living in Britain during the Battle of Britain.

Now contrast that to say Belarus where about 25% of the country's population was murdered by the Nazis. Russia was also horribly afflicted by the Nazis. In those countries perceptions of the Nazis or Germans are probably very different. This is not something that will be easily forgotten. Now add on to that fact that contemporary Germany is an opposing military alliance (NATO) it is not hard to see why citizens of these countries may view a rearmed Germany as a significant threat.

The same scenario applies to China with Japan. With the exception that Japan is not a NATO member but is a rather close military ally of the US.

Good to see charges dropped.

Wonder if charges would have been dropped if worker was Caucasian instead of Hispanic.

The fellow's race didn't matter, provided that he wasn't a black Republican. What got the charges dropped was the public outcry resulting from the media coverage, in particular FOX News.

A small data point for those of you considering following Buttigieg's advice and trading in the F250 or perhaps buying an electric miracle for a graduating senior.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
