One of the things I look forward to when I get to Zimbabwe is looking at and photographing the nights sky. I can only imagine how the unadulterated night sky looks!
Wondering how many others that have been there have done the same and photographed it? I’d love to hear your stories and see the pics if you’d like to share…

I always love the African sky! Where it's safe to do so I will wander away from the lights of the camp or lodge far enough to really take it in. These are from Namibia in 2021 with an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am planning to take a full frame camera on my next trip.

When I went on my first African hunt in Limpopo back in ‘04, it was a new moon and we got to see all the stars. We left one concession after dark, and our PH stopped on the road and killed the engine. He told us to step out, grab a beer from the cooler, and sit on the tailgate. It was absolutely pitch black, no lights anywhere except from the stars. He pointed out many constellations, including the Southern Cross. I’ve been to the Big Bend here in Texas quite a few times, and it’s the closest I can compare it to.
On our trip last summer, it was a full moon and very bright. My wife has an app to identify the stars and such which is really cool. She took a screen shot of the Southern Cross on our first night there.

When I first hunted in Namibia in 2012, I didn’t see a single cloud in two weeks while there. The skies were so clear at night you could actually see satellites moving above the horizon. Breathtaking views to watch while sipping on a Tafel Lager and smoking a Cuban cigar.

When you see the Southern Cross for the first time..

You’ll understand now why you came this way.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
