Correct, it's due to horn size. 38" and up is considered a trophy bull.
Thank you and I agree, I am extremely happy with all 3 bulls.

You can never go wrong spending time with Dave. A wonderful person, besides being a fantastic PH.

Hunting those old Bulls is a fantastic hunt. Especially in the thick stuff with Charity and Thomas working the track sometimes for hours.

Great hunt and report. What made you choose April?

Mostly because that's the dates that lined up for myself with work and the PH. But also I don't mind hunting the thick stuff I am used to it. And the buffalo are alot physically bigger early season just after the wet so it's great to see big bodied heavy animals.

I would think non trophy would be anything under 35 inches

He has two cost structures of management bulls. 36 to 38 and under 35. Greater than 38 is trophy. Please don’t quote me on the numbers but we chatted this week and that’s what I remember.

I believe that's correct.

To not make things too complicated on my hunt I just said I am happy with any size non-trophy and to pay which ever non-trophy category it falls into. But you can target specific sizes if you want.

From memory mine ended up being 36.5" for the first bull, 32" for the second bull and 34" for the third bull. So 2 falling into the bottom category and one falling into the next category up.
